We are pleased to announce that the New York school of Interior Design has extended an invitation to all BiTTT members for the upcoming NYSID Graduate and Alumni Cocktail Party.
The New York Junior League’s Annual House Tours are devoted to showcasing New York City’s prestigious and luxurious residences, while highlighting architecture, art, history and interior design. House Tour showcases homes in some of the city’s most sought-after neighborhoods. The tour commences with registration and breakfast at the Astor House, followed by a self-guided tour through the homes; a buffet lunch at the A & D Building, champagne and strawberry stops at Farrow & Ball on the Upper Eastside and Upper Westside, a snack stop at Elie Tahari in Soho, a post-tour cocktail reception at Newel Antiques, and silent auction are also included. Past tours have featured both designers’ own residences as well as their clients.
Proceeds support the NYJL’s collaborative community programs in the New York City metropolitan area. This is a MUST attend event.
Mario Buatta is one of America’s foremost decorators. He was born in New York, studied architecture at Cooper Union and attended Parsons School of Design in Europe. After an apprenticeship in the decorating department of B. Altman & Co., he became associated with several decorating firms including Elisabeth Draper, Inc. and then formed his own decorating company. A multi-talented and internationally renowned designer, Mr. Buatta has created his own unmistakable style which he calls, “The Undecorated Look.” His general approach is to provide a maximum of comfort by using an expertly balanced mixture of contemporary and antique furnishings. These furnishings are placed against backgrounds which reflect his subtle color mix. The result is that the eye is more aware of the overall glow of tint, rather than individual colors. The same is to be said for his use of chintzes with textures, patterns and stripes. His unerring sense of detail, as well as the selection and quality of his furnishings is apparent in every room. He has designed homes for many celebrity’s such as Mariah Carey.
